"Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cozy, doesn't try it on."
Billy Connolly All staff at Loopy's are chosen for their loveliness! There are people you come across who just ooze warmth and genuiness and all our lovely staff have this quality plus a joy of life and real desire to please. There may be the odd bit of Loopiness in there too but that just adds character to the great atmosphere and welcoming ambience of Loopy Lorna’s Tea House. Loopy's Owner : I’m Gaynor, Loopy Lorna’s daughter and your host here at Loopy Lorna’s Tea House. You can call me Loopy as it’s probably appropriate and well it just fits! Loopy Lorna’s has been a long-standing dream and I’m thrilled that it’s finally come together and we opened on 17th October 2008.
I realised I had to do Loopy Lorna’s when I went on a goal mapping course (www.liftinternational.com) and had the life changing jolt that made me stop thinking about it and just get on with it! Loopy Lorna’s is a fitting tribute to my much loved and missed mum and I hope that you enjoy your visits as much as I love the concept, planning and realisation of my vision for the best tea and cakes ever and anywhere!
Loopy’s Head Chef:
Hi my name is Michelle Phillips, I am the Head Chef at Loopy Lorna's. I am 45 and have been married to Mike for 26yrs, we have 3 wonderful daughters, Natalie, Ashley & Gemma. I so enjoy baking up a storm at Loopy's as my passion in life has always been cooking & baking!
I am so delighted to have won Scottish Casual Dining Chef of the Year 2009 whilst working at Loopy's. A proud moment for all the team.
Alex (Our Master Tea Blender!):
At Loopy Lorna's we decided to do something a little bit special with our teas and herbal infusions. Rather than buy generic brands of tea that can be bought anywhere else, we wanted to offer our customers a whole new drinking experience. With this in mind, we enlisted the help of Master Tea Blender Alex Probyn from blendsforfriends.com.
Alex started his career in tea 10 years ago as a trainee tea taster for Tetley - after five years of slurping his way through up to 1,000 cups of tea per day and visiting over 120 tea estates around the world Alex had worked his way up to become a Master Blender. After a couple more years and fed up with the restricted styles of tea and herbs he could use, he decided to put his creative and blending skills to better use and set up his own company in 2006. Alex now blends teas and herbs from only the finest estates around the world and holds an unrivaled stock of over 400 different varieties that he can use to create any combination of blends.
Alex only creates bespoke blends with the customers exact requirements in mind - and at Loopy Lorna's we like to think he's got it spot on!
Elke (The designer!): Given that we say two feet and one foot, why don't we say two sheep and one shoop?
Destined to remain forever unanswered, it was this question that led to design agency One Shoop's rather odd choice of name. Set up in 2005, Elke, design director of One Shoop and busy Mum of two small kids, is really passionate about what she does, and aims to deliver a highly creative, innovative and individual solution to all your print design requirements.
But don't just take my word for it: check out her site and judge for yourself: www.oneshoop.com Elaine (The Tea Cosy Knitter!):
Am bordering on the very daft, with a hobby that started when I was ill and has spread some amusement around the world. Such is the life of a very lucky person, married to Robbie Williams (he was here before the famous one) his favourite quote being 'sex is the breakfast of champions' to which my reply is tea is the drink of the whole nation. 2 wonderful daughters and 2 of the most precious gifts - my grandchildren and, of course, mother (88) chief assistant in the knitting department.
